Background of Establishment
Contributing to a Circular Economy and Reducing 10,000 Tons of CO2 Annually by Improving Solvent Recycling Rates in Thailand
As global interest in carbon neutrality rises, Thailand has positioned the "Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economic Model" as a national strategy, increasing awareness of recycling even in active industrial sectors.
Currently, the solvent recycling rate in Thailand is less than 3%, indicating significant potential for further development.
Amid this context, Union Petrochemical Public Co., Ltd. (hereafter, UKEM), a major petrochemical solvent company in Thailand, took note of the high quality of recycled solvents from Toyota Kagaku's advanced solvent recycling technology through JFE Shoji Electronics.
In addition to the development potential of Japanese-made recycled solvents in Thailand, this aligns with the Thai government's green industry development policy, leading to the establishment of the joint venture, UTJ Glean Solutions (Thailand) Co., Ltd., which will undertake solvent recycling factory functions.

"UTJ" represents the initials of the three companies (UKEM, Toyota Kagaku, JFE Shoji) and also evokes the idea of "United Thailand and Japan." Additionally, "Glean" is a coined term combining "Green" and "Clean," aiming for "contribution to the environment."
Furthermore, "Glean" is a verb meaning "to gather," reflecting the desire to collect and recycle what has previously been discarded or incinerated, contributing to the environment.
